New macbook pro 16" M1 chip stops performing tasks in a reasonable timeframe (Monterey 12.2.1) about once a week I recently upgraded from my 2017 27" imac. Could someone give me some insight how it is that using Skype or external monitors suddenly drastically decrease the performance of the MacBook? Even the simplest taskes become impossible.Ĭurrently I am running the MacBook without external monitors and I do not use Skype. After 10 minutes kernal_task(0) starts to take up > 100% of the CPU. However, after 5 minutes performance drastically decrease. Once MacBook is connect to one of the monitors for the first three minutes everything is OK. 1 week ago, Had to make the decision to unplug both external monitors.MacBook becomes extremely hot, Decision was made to join Skype on IPhone instead. Performing any other taks on MacBook while Skyping becomes near to impossible. Decided to unplug one of the two monitors. MacBook performance decrease when connected to both external monitors.
